Rescue disks hangs in DOS, both 2011 & 2012 ATIH

Thread needs solution

I tried a previously working 2011 ATIH rescue disk, then created a 2012 one also after installing this version in Windows 7. Same outcome in my new computer: it hangs after the ATIH blue screen in DOS and I have to restart the machine again. But after installing ATIH I completed a backup in Windows with no problems. Fact is I don' t trust 100% (not even 80%!) ATIH 'inside the system' and for years have preferred taking the time to do nearly all the backups and restores from DOS so I can save my day when the worst happens. This new setup features a new Biostar TZ77XE4 MB (could that be part of the problem?!) and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and/but the same 'old' GTX460 video card, SSD, hard and optical drives, keyboard and even mouse! Since ATIH doesn't hang in Windows I can't get a dump file of the problem. It is not seeing the drives properly 'out there', isn't it? Any advice? I also have a valid Plus Pack at hand, both 2011 and 2012 versions. Thanks!

Most likely the Linux version that runs from the CD has some hardware support issues in the drivers.

Since you have the Plus Pack, use it to creat a WinPE-based disk, by following the help file.

As you know, you *must* have a working recovery CD...

Thanks, Pat, I'll do that when I'm at home, I'm away on training for 3 days. Funny, a ATIH 2011 ver. 6942 rescue disk also hangs before I can even see the 'loading disks' screen BUT previous 6868 works perfectly fine so I'm covered. It's a drivers recognition/compatibility issue, like you said, has to be. Thing is I paid for 2012 for what?! I hope the WinPE-based disk works, it should.
