rescue media

Thread needs solution

I have 2 copies of True Image 2010. They are installed on 2 different laptops. My question is can I use the same bootable rescue media on both computers or do I have to keep track of which one is for each computer?

The TI Rescue CD are generic--not specific to either computer.

Create at least one Rescue CD and then boot from the CD on both computers. When booted from the Rescue Cd, create a backup from both computers. This will affirm that both computers hardware can be seen by the Linux Rescue CD.

Opening or closing the CD tray can be bothersome on a laptop. Consider create a TI REscue CD on a flashdrive and even better yet, consider adding Grub4Dos to the flashdrive. The index in my signature below lists links on how to create both. You will note that when creating a Rescue CD, there is also options to create an Acronis Bootable Flashdrive and options to create a iso file which can be burnt to CD or to a file which can be loaded onto Grub4Dos. You have lots of choices and if you want some additional help in managing your backups, the Chain2Gen program (signature index) can be real helper and DrvNotify can help in telling you when to attach your external drive.

Hello John and GroverH!

First of all I would like to thank GroverH for the prompt response and confirm that he is absolutely right: the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media can be used on any machine you need to use it on (just mind please that according to the Acronis License Policy you will need one license for one computer your are going to backup or restore). It is also perfectly correct that though we usually advise to create the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media onto the CD, you can create it to the flash drive.

I just would like to add that should you decide to use the CD and would like to avoid installing the software onto the machine - you can download the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media in *iso format directly from your account as shown on the screenshot and burn it onto the CD. In case you are not familiar with (iso burning, I would advise you to refer to the this article for the details!

Should you have any concerns - feel free to share them!

Thank you.
