Rescue Media
Using rescue media backing up my system drive (C) using compression, my dell laptop powers down while the image is being created..It does not matter which level of compression I use..I am backing up to a 1tb usb esata drive..If I don't use any compression, it works fine..Also works fine for my data drive (D) using compression..
Any ideas?..

Murley,
Could you expand then on what you mean by power down? Does the PC seem to time out and go into sleep/standby or does it shut off completely? Is it a case that the battery goes low causing shutdown?
There are definitely no settings in the BIOS or mentioned in the Dell manual about levels S1,315 etc?
I'm asking because I just can't work out at the moment how Linux is powering down your laptop especially when compression is used for making the image. I would think slightly more power would be used when compression is selected, but In the scheme of things I wouldn't have thought it to be overly prohibitive.

The laptop powers off..Must power laptop on to restart..I am using an ac adapter, not on battery alone..Only happens on system drive(C) when using compression..Can the compression routine be generating some code from the system data to power off the laptop?..Sounds data related to me..

That is so strange. I've never heard of that happening.
Did you select the option for True Image to power down the laptop after completing the backup?
