Rescue Media and build question

Thread needs solution

I just created a rescue disk/cd under build Acronis TI Home 2011 build 6942. Easy enough, right? When I first started the prompt said I was creating rescue media for version 14.0.6857. Why doesn't the numbers coincide? I get confused with this sometimes. Is the 6942 the Build# of Acronis TI Home 2011 version 14.0.6857? You'd think they'd leave some of these numbers off to simplify matters. Also, do I need a new build rescue media if I change builds? I hope I said that right.

Usually, if the build numbers don't match it's because the files didn't get updated correctly when the new build was installed (you could try reinstalling). Also, the build number for the various media versions don't always match the "build" of the installed version (they are usually the same, but not always). 6942 should be the same.

You can download the ISO file directly from your Acronis account and create a CD from it using any ISO capable burning program. This would give you a CD with the correct build even if you can't get it from Media Builder.

You should create a new CD when you install/download a new build. Some people go as far as keeping track of which build created the backup so they know it if they run into a restore problem later (they can try the build that created it).

I had made a recovery disk and a recovery flash drive with the same media builder mentioned above. The backups I have made were with build 6942 and after your post I decided to test both the cd and flash drive. I booted to each one separately and both of them came up Build 6942 and both of them had my backups listed and ready to go on Recovery. The only differance in the 2 was the disk had both Windows and True Image. The flash drive only booted to True Image. Strange that when I was making those that the version 14.0.6857 showed itself on the rescue media builder. What I think is that 14.0.6857 just happened to be the original to acronis TI 2011 and it shows itself for that reason on the rescue media builder page. I went through my rescue disks and noticed that I have one with the original 14.0.6857 and one with 6868 and the latest with 6942, plus I made the flash drive with 6942. Whatever the case, all is good.
