[RESOLVED] True Image 2013 fails to detect source drive in Win8
Bought a new Acer V5-471 touchscreen laptop running Win8. After setup and windows updates I attempted to backup the entire drive to a USB 2.0 hard drive. I used the rescue disk created from the program (build 6514). Could not detect the internal hard drive. Could detect only the USB drive.
Google suggested disabling secure boot and enabling legacy boot; made no difference. Replaced the computer at Costco and repeated the process; no difference.
Issue resolved here.

Hello James,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I am quite surprised that I didn't find such an article in the knowledge base. Win8 PC's have been manufactured for over 6 months, Microsoft requires all to have UEFI firmware with GPT disks and TI 2013 cannot do a rescue restore! Where's the warning prominently displayed with flashing lights? I can't see how TI 2013 can claim to support Win 8.
Anyway, thank you again for volunteering your time.

Update: Contacted support via email. URL to download build 6528 was refused unless I paid for incident. Then I contacted support via chat. Technician made a one-time exception to Pay Per Incident and provided link. For the benefit of others, the link is below:
Kindly download the ISO image from the below link : link was deleted for licensing reasons
With build 6528 rescue disk, I was able to back up the entire hard drive, then do a practice restore of the entire drive. It worked perfectly. Why doesn't Acronis publish it?

I also contacted them today via the chat line and I was given the download location straight away without any suggestion of having to pay. I guess it is pot luck who you get.
We should encourage as many people as possible to contact them (wasting their time) and they might finally get the mesage to bring out a long overdue proper update. What's the betting the next update counted as a new release, and they will expect us tp pay for it again at say 60% of price.

The ISO build for 6528 is in all our accounts as of yesterday (24/6/2013), it is still labelled as 6514 on the download page due to website technical problems, but it is actually the new build.

Hi Colin B, is there any way to create a USB boot key from the 6528 ISO build?

Yes, if you use a multi-boot utility such as Grub4Dos or Xboot. I use Xboot, which is simpler to setup than Grub4Dos, and it allows me to have multiple bootable ISOs on a single USB flash drive.

Side note: Rescue disk build 6514 did not work with my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. Build 6528 fixed that, too.

Thanks guys for the info.
But in my case I need to be able to access the Acronis files in order to replace a .efi file so that I can have a bootable video screen.

Other than using Grub4Dos based USB sticks (I use RMPrepUSB), you could try the following.
Use Winmount or gBurner to open the ISO, replace the required file and then resave the amended image and then use a grub4Dos stick, or I think Winmount can extract an ISO to devices other than a CD. I've never tried using MS imageX to extract anything other than Microsoft ISOs, but that might work as well.
