Restore corrupting harddrive

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I installed TM2012 and took a backup of Windows XP machine. It created a tlb file size of 95GB.
now, i wanted to restore that image on a new pc faster machine.
I bought both Image Home 2012 and Plus pack. I booted from the boot cd and it asked for tlb file for restore and i select and the file from usb drive with option Universal Restore checked.
Acronis goes thru and restore process and asks for drivers which i dont know which drivers its asking and so i say Ignore. it completes and says Restore completes and reboot. I get a blue screen.
I am now stuck. Please help.

Thanks
Arun

Universal Restore is for restoring a backup image onto different hardware, which is what you're doing. Of course, the image includes drivers for the old hardware. So, you need drivers for the new hardware (Windows issue, not an Acronis issue).

Prior to attempting a Universal Restore, you must collect all the required drivers for the new hardware, in .inf format. Place them all in a folder that you'll access when prompted during the Universal Restore, so likely on a USB flash drive.

Will the new system be Windows XP? If not, then don't use Universal Restore.

Its a Windows XP machine, i backed up the complete Windows XP and now that pc is acting strange so i wanted to have that image onto a new pc.
I forgot to take the inf files from the new machine before restoring.
So, i need to install Windows XP on the new machine and then copy drivers and try the restore again?

Thanks
Arun

If you know the exact hardware in the new PC, you could probably download the drivers from manufacturers' web sites, or from the PC maker's site.
