Restore Disk failed, Restored Target changed to RAW and some more troubles ...
Hi all,
after the automatic update of Win 10 1703 I've got a lot of Troubles: no Keyboard, no Mouse, no possibility to work with my PC (HP 8560w), no Chance for a set back to or to restore an older Version ...
I'm working with Acronis 2015, but I never had the Need to restore ...
I've decided to take another Notebook, put the C:\Disk into an USB Case and tried to restore the latest Backup. But this failed too and my System disk changed to RAW.
Then I installed Win 10 1703 from scratch, this works ok.
But I need to re-install all the Apps I'm normally using. As some Infos are needed from the old System disk, I'll tried to take only Files from the Backup.
I've normally done a daily Increment and evry month a full Backup for the System disk. So I hoped to find all the needed files, but I saw, that the Backup has stopped at the 3rd of June instead of the 30th of June ... and there was a Name Change after the 20th of May ... I cant imagine why.
The Trial to restore only files crashes after about 6 GB (of nearly 300 GB) and tells me that some files couldn't get restored. I have a Chance to ignore and follow up with files that might get restored. But the expacted time increases up to 2 Days ... and there was no possibility to tell the process to ignore all failing files ... and then I decided to start a new Trial ... same procedure ... but at the end, there is so much garbage that I'm not allowed to delete ... damn
Ok, I'm going to re-install all step by step. But I'm not sure to by a new Version from Acronis. Otherwise at my workplace I use Acronis Backup, and this works fine.
Has anyone a good idea?
Kind regards,
Reinhardt

Hi Steve,
thanks for your Reply. My Intention to restore only files and Folders from my C:\ System Disk was not to recreate applikations, only find data like my Outlook-ost and some Folders with Documents, Pictures, Favorits, and so on.
I though this may be possible, but the broken continuity of the Full-/Increment-Backups prevents against. If possible I would attach a hardcopy from the backup-Folder ...
My idea was to rename the backup-files and also the Content of the XML-files, but this is a bit hard work, and I don't know, if this can help.
Some hours ago, I've decided tho ask the "Official" Acronis Support via a PPI-Ticket and just payed 20 € using PayPal.
What do you think, I should do now?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards, Reinhardt

Reinhardt, it should be possible to recover your data files from your backups provided that these will open correctly for you, but you would need to avoid recovering any files with their original permissions as this will give you other problems. Even if you have created exactly the same user profile, the UUID for this will be different because of the clean install of Windows 10.
One thing to be aware of is the God Mode folder that Windows 10 Creators Update introduces which can cause ATIH 2015 to crash if this is accessed on the Desktop. See forum post: Windows 10 Creators Update problem for more information on this issue.
How are you trying to do the recovery? If you are not doing so, then with ATIH 2015 installed, you should be able to double-click on any of your .TIB files from Explorer and use Copy & Paste to recovery individual files or folders etc, then paste them to a new location.
