Restore image backup from TI2014 to TI2014-Premium

Thread needs solution

Greeting to Acronis Forum helper,

If I create an image backup in TI2014, Can I purchase TI2014-Premium later and use universal restore to recover my image backup from TI2014? I think about this to prepare the event that my current laptop may have a failed hard drive in the future.

Thank for your help!

Yes you can but you don't need TI 2014 Premium to restore a backup on a replacement hard drive. Universal restore is used when you restore to dissimilar hardware like a new motherboard. TI 2014 will restore your backup to a new hard drive.

Additionally, you will need Universal restore if you want to restore your backup image to a new computer of the same Windows OS.
You would also need to locate and provide the new drivers needed for the new computer.

And as Thomasjk has indicated, you "should" be able to restore your system onto a new replacment disk "ASSUMING" that
your backup is full and complete backup and the backup contains all the partitions (even those with no drive letters).

Caution: if the backup only contains a backup of drive C only, then the backup is incomplete and a new replacment disk will not be bootable.
