Restore Image does not Synchronize following Windows reboot

Thread needs solution

About 40% of the time when I attempt to restore a FULL IMAGE of the boot drive (never create incremental anyway) from Windows, Acronis reports that needs to reboot. When it returns and BEGINS to show the progress bar, it first reports a very high time to complete (that is fine iti needs to evaluate process) BUT 40% of the time the next msg is NOT the actual time to complete but a horrible msg stating that it needs to resynchronize (do not remember the rest of the msg). The first time I saw that I observed the PC to to return to a debug type Windows environment. I knew there would be no recovery at that point.

My workaround has been ... to ABORT the process by shuting down the PC then boot with my Acronis diskette. That works ALL THE TIME. The experience is scary! It should NOT happen that when Windows is running and Acronis is in control that occasionally it fails to get going properly after it reboots the PC.

I see nothing different from one saved image to an other and I always initiate the Restore with ALL programs closed! I have finally decided to explore this with Acronis. While I may be out of date supportwise, I do believe others have had this. I can't be the only one. I simply have not found it mentioned at the forum and unlike other companies, I am quite surprised that Acronis will not accept an e-mail question, from a paid customer, no matter when the product was purchased.

Would like this issue solved. Tell you what, if you know this was resolved in your 2011 product, tell me when it will be on sale again and I will buy it.

Seek answers please,
Ira

Help get me out this loop. All I want to do is ask a question and I have. How do I close the box and receive a thank you????

Ira,
If you wish to contact Acronis, click on the "Getting Support"option along the left margin of this webpage.

The preferred and recommended method for restoring your system partition from a backup is to use the TI Rescue/Recovery CD. As you stated, this always works. The reason it works is that Windows is out of the loop during the restore.

However, you should be able to restore a DATA (non-system) disk without issue from inside Windows.

Grover,

Firstly, I greatly appreciate your quick response ... on holiday weekend, too. Thanks! I'm only talking about the boot partition. Yep, no probs and no boot for restoring anything else from w/i Windows. Secondly, I simply was believing that a) restore from Windows known to be "feature" of Acronis and b) that it rebooted and c) supposedly was "in control" .... would work properly.

I would like to know if you've heard of this problem and have you/would you investigate it to restore convenience of the Windows method? And for whatever the reaspn, do you believe this problem was corrected in 2011, albeit, never a problem if I use the disk?

Finally, I've never created or truly chanced using an Acronis protected zone or other features of the product, resorting to basic down home (as you would say) known working methods.... but should I consider Acronis zone if that is what you call it or stick to using disk if I experience this UGLY situatuation???

Thanks,
Ira

Ira,
I am not a tech person so they will have to speak for themselves. Acronis does offer the restore from within Windows. You may still want a response from support.

For me personally, I do not consider this an issue as I do each and every restore of my system partition or system full disk when booted from the Recovery CD. I prefer this method as it removes Windows from an involvement of open files, etc.
