restore image to SSD which is smaller than original partition ?

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I saved my C-partition from a WD hard disk with Acronis True Image Home 2012. The hard disk C partition has a size of 152 GB, used are around 70GB.
Now I like to restore the backuped image to a new SSD which has a total size of 120GB.

Please let me know if that is possible with TrueImageHome 2012.

thanks
Franz K.

Franz,
Yes, most likely this is possible. HOWEVER, if your OS is Windows 7, many installations include a boot or recovery partition and this must be included in your backup and included as a part of the restore so a backup of C only may not be sufficient.

Right click on My Computer Icon or Start menu and choose Manage.
Click on Tools/Storage/Disk management

or use the Run option and type
DISKMGMT.MSC

Your disks will be displayed as a graphical view so you can see if there is any partitions before or after your Drive C. Any partitions other than drive C must also be included within the backup and restore to the SSD.
