Restore of verified backups fail - Resolved

Thread needs solution

Very frustrating to have every restore fail when I boot from Acronis 2013 CD. I'll go into Windows 7 or Vista; run True Image 2013, and the images verify. As a matter of fact, I can restore the "broken" image whenever I boot into Windows 7 or Vista. The failure to restore only happens when I boot from CD. Well, after hours upon hours of trouble shooting, I found 2 fixes. Apparently, my P45 motherboard with 8GB memory causes the Linux version (default version for CD's) to fail on restores. Removing 4GB of memory from the motherboard solves the problem and all restores work. Realizing that this is probably a problem with the default Linux version of the Acronis boot CD, I made a Windows PE version of True Image. Sure enough, this one works with 8GB of memory. I've recreated the problem over 15 times; and, I can confirm that both fixes work.

That is a bizarre solution to have tried, removing half your RAM. I would want to run Memtest for several hours to test the integrity of all that RAM.

I routinely create, verify and restore images using the Rescue Media on my Win7 PC with 8 GB RAM, no problems.
