Restore of a Windows 7 partition while booted into Windows 7

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 2013. I made a backup a while back and my machine had a hard drive failure. I got a new hard drive from Dell and it has the OS that came pre-loaded on the machine. My question is, do I have to use an Acronis boot CD/DVD to recover the partition from my external hard drive or can I install Acronis True Image 2013 onto the Windows OS and then do some type of in-place restore. It seems like I recall the restore being very slow when using the bootable media so I figured Windows might be a better (quicker) option. Please let me know if that is possible. Thanks!

do the restore from the Acrnis boot CD and restore the backup. YOu should be able to use the disk option restore.
Check link 3 below and item #2 inside that link.

YOu mgiht want to use the Cd and make a backup of the pre-loaded os--just in case of problems.
