Restoring from a backup to a new internal hard drive - Formatting required?
I did a backup of my 500 GB C Drive to a 1 TB Passport drive. I now want to restore from the Passport to a new 1 TB Internal hard drive that I will use if I ever have a disk failure. Does the brand new drive need to be formatted, or does Acronis do this during the restore? Thanks, Fred

The backup on the passports shows 'PASSPORT_full_b1_s1_v1'
and created a C folder and D folder
The C folder has the following subfoldrs - acroldr, Boot. DELL, recovery, and System Volume Information
The D folder has all my C drive information
I assume that's a full backup

One more question - When I restore to my new blank 1 TB drive, should I take out my existing c drive and put the new one there there, or just connect it via my SATA to USB adapter?

Without seeing your disk layout, I cannot know if that is a full backup. It sounds as though you don't either. Make a full disk mode backup to ensure you have everything, including possible hidden partitions, one of which could be the boot partition.

You would remove the current primary drive, install the new one in its place and restore to it.
