Restoring a file back up from a Vista computer to a new Windows 8.1 computer

Thread needs solution

What is the best way to restore a file backup from an older Vista Computer to a new Windows 8.1 computer? Is it better to use the bootable recovery CD, or install new Acronis 2014 software on the Windows 8.1 computer and do the recovery with the newly installed software? Also, can you transfer the serial number registration from the old computer to the new computer?

You have many ways to restore a file:
- from a NSB, file or disk backup, from the recovery CD or from Windows: using the restore function

- from a disk backup, from the recovery CD or from Windows, mounting the image then copying pasting out of the mounted volume,
- from a disk backup, or a file backup, from Windows, double clickin on the TIB file and copying, pasting out of Windows explorer.

When you install ATI on the new computer, the license number will automatically transfer.
