Restoring a System Backup

Thread needs solution

I have a TIH 2010 System Backup file on an external hard drive that I'm trying to download to a new internal hard drive partition using TIH 2011.
The process appears to start but then I keep getting an error message saying the system can't locate "Volume 1" even after I browse to the .tib file on the external hard drive and select it the system doesn't seem to recognise the file.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as all my programs and files are apparently now unaccessible!

Can you validate the image with ATi 2011 from Windows? If no, can you validate it from the recovery CD?

If you can validate the image, can you mount the image from Windows? if not from Windows, from the recovery CD?

If you cannot validate the image at all, your backup is corrupted. If you cannot fix it by finding a missing file, you are out of luck.

If you can validate it, but cannot mount the image from Windows, but from the CD, there is hope.

It would be rare that you can validate but cannot mount the image at all.
