Restoring TI 2010 backup from RAID 0 to one new HD

Using TI Home 2010, is there any problem restoring a backup from my current RAID configuration using 2 1TN HD's to a new 2TB Seagate HD? This computer came with 2 1TB Seagate HD's configured ad C and D drives. I converted them to a RAID configuration (don't remember how!!) so they would be one C drive. I now have a new Seagate 2TB HD and want to install it and restore the backup to this new drive. Is there anything I need to change; in the BIOS or elsewhere? If this question has already been answered and I didn't find it, please just give me the link. Thank you,

Are you sure the drives were reconfigured into RAID 0? I only ask because you say you don't remember how it was done. There are other ways to "combine" two drives into one besides RAID.

Most times, restoring a RAID image to a single drive will work. It stands a much better chance than the other way around (single to RAID) since Windows usually has the correct drivers already installed or available.

Ha, yes like a lot of things I don't remember (I keep saying to myself...I should write down what I'm doing THIS time!) ...but this is definitely RAID. The MB is MSI 770-C45. I did go into the BIOS and found a setting under "on chip ATA devices" indicating RAID. Also with this MB, pressing CTRL-F on start up brings up some sort of RAID configuration. Maybe I need to set all of this back to non RAID before I try to restore? The manual for this MB is very skimpy.....the last computer I had also had an MSI MB, but with very complete instructions. Is there any advantage in upgrading to TI 2011 for this? I guess the drive image here would not be the problem then so much as setting the BIOS back to non RAID? Thank you,

Yes, you would need to set the controller mode back to normal or AHCI instead of RAID.

If TI 2010 can see the drives correctly, you should be fine with it.

Before you break the RAID, it is sometimes helpful to note which drive is which and connected to which port. This can help you if you need to reconnect it for some reason. Some RAID setups will allow this, some may not. I've done it before. Just don't count on it (the two RAID 0 drives) as a backup (in case it doesn't work).
