Restoring XP Backup with new drive letter

I recently backed up my brothers hard drive XP OS with True Image home 2010, which due to some failure on the original windows install was designated an Operating System drive letter allocation of I drive, rather than the preferred C drive allocation.

Since I cannot change the I drive letter to the C drive letter within windows or even with Acronis Disk Director, because it holds the OS and will not allow to change, I was now proposing to reformat and hopefully re install a TI backup of the original windows installation, only hoping that it will allow me to do so with a New C Drive allocation on recovery from the backup.

Can someone who may know please tell me is this possible, or do we really need to reinstall windows again from scratch to get the correct C drive allocation back again for the XP OS ?? please help, much appreciated. Thankyou.
