Schedule and Shutdown unreliable

Thread needs solution

Hi,
scheduling and shutdown is so unreliable. Set up a daily backup for 21:20 every night, and then to shut the system down.

Tonight, as it does 3 times out of 4, the scheduled backup didn't start - when it does start, it is hit and miss if it shuts down.

If I start it manually, it generally does a shutdown.

My system is Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

I had troubles restoring after a disc failure, and troubles backing up - this is why I bought the product.

It is extremely frustrating and unreliable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Petevick,

Try disabling the fast boot option in Windows 8 this has been seen to cause scheduler problems occasionally. There is also a file patch available which also might solve the problem, but I'd try the fast boot option first.

Are you using a post command shutdown script or the True Image shutdown after imaging option?

HI,
thanks - I am using the True Image option to shut down - as I say, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Last night the backup happened, but the shutdown didn't

Thanks

Pete

Might be an idea to run Windows Process Monitor and see if there is some other program or file running when this problem happens.

Try making a shutdown script and use that as a post task option and remove the True Image 'shutdown' option.

I haven't made a CMD file yet for Windows 8, but I believe the shutdown function has more options than the Windows 7 one.
