Scheduled backup does not start on Surface Pro

Thread needs solution

I am trying to get Acronis to automatically wake the Surface Pro (Windows 8.1) from sleep mode at 2:00 AM to run a backup. The computer does not wake up at the scheduled time so the backup doesn't run. I use the same version of Acronis True Image 2015 (Build 6613) on a Windows 7 laptop and it wakes up the computer and runs the backup OK at the scheduled time.

I have tried most of the things suggested in various other forums, e.g., making sure Wake Timers are enabled in the power profile, making sure "wake up the sleeping/hibernating computer" and "prevent the computer from going to sleep/hybernate" are both checked in the Schedule Advanced Settings, etc. I have confirmed the computer is not waking up at the scheduled time by checking the Windows Event Log, which shows the times when the computer went to sleep and when it woke up. There is no activity in the log any time near the scheduled wake up time.

One forum post suggested creating a task in Windows Task Scheduler to wake up the computer just before the scheduled Acronis backup time. Unfortunately, this also failed to work. Task Scheduler also appears to be unable to wake up the Surface Pro from sleep mode, so the problem may not be unique to Acronis. I am just hoping someone on this forum has been able to get Acronis scheduled backups to wake up a Surface Pro, and if so, what was their trick.

I hope someone can help. I'm tired of having to manually start a backup every night.
