Scheduled backups don't in ACTI 2012

Thread needs solution

I have set up backups several times telling it to backup at 6PM but nothing ever happens.

What do I need to do to fix this?

I am trying to do full backups.

Everything is checked in the proper place. I told it to backup only when the computer is idle because at that time I am never using it.

But I don't see any error message or anything.

Do I have to leave Acronis True Image running in the background for scheduled backups to work?

I would think that would stop backups set to only work when the computer was idle.

If you have the schedule set for the backups to start at 6, they could start whenever after that time.

I would strongly urge you NOT to use the "backup when idle" feature. Without that feature enabled, the backup should begin at 6 or shortly thereafter . Activity on the computer at 6 or after, that will not be a problem for the backup although response will be slower.

I assume the computer is awake and powered up at 6 pm?

Here is one example on how to set up the backup scheme. Change the example of 4 to whatever number you want to retain. Be sure and allow enough extra space for one additional backup as TI will not delete the oldest until a replacement has been created--thus extra space needed temporarily.

Set up your schedule for 6pm and any time you want additional non-scheduled backups, simply click the "backup now" option.

Thanks for the response.

I got it to work ... but I have to leave the True Image Home program running in order for a scheduled backup to run.

Why doesn't the program interface with Windows Scheduler so it would wake up and do it's job when scheduled.

I've seen other programs that worked that way and I just expected TI would too.

But it currently will not wake up and do a backup at a scheduled time.

Program has to be running. It can be minimized but it has to be running.

Not good.

I want a daily backup but if I forget to start Acronis before I walk away from the computer in the evening I won't get a backup.

This should NOT work this way. It should interface with Wndows Scheduler.

Normally, TI is capable of waking the computer for a backup. This could be setting in the power configuration--or even the Anti-virus.

A couple alternative. You could use the Windows Scheduler (as per enclosed link) and have it schedule the backup instead of Acronis. or, Use the Windows schedule to wake the computer for a meaningless program such as to open Explorer into the target folder, etc just 1 minutes before the backup due to start. Also, on the TrueImage scheduler if you continue using it, be sure and check the scheduler advanced options that the option to wake the computer is enabled.
