Scrub registry of leftover acronis entries

Thread needs solution

Installed ATIH 2010 couple years back and uninstalled it after the USB problem (see other posts in this forum). I was forced to revisit the registry after finding that a leftover driver, tdrpman273, had attached itself as a driver for ALL drives on my system and at shutdown was causing an external hard drive to throw off registry leaks. I generally followed Arvy's advice in his many posts here and on Wilder's, including https://forum.acronis.com/forum/26439. I'd add that in addition to CurrentControlSet keys, you also have to remove entries in ControlSet001 and Controlset002 hives. Even following best practices, there are still scores of Acronis entries in my registry. In an effort to avoid yet another problem caused by an "Acronis leftover," I want to scrub the registry of all the Acronis entries. But to use a registry cleaner on a registry is like taking an ax to it. Arvy has made us aware that some entries have to be removed in a certain order. What follows is a list of what's left in my registry. If someone could provide some guidance on the sequence of deleting values\keys. I'd be grateful. I've attached two txt files to save bandwidth here. Thank you.

One option would be to download the TI Cleanup utility (signature link 4 below) and run that and let it remove what it finds and then you can check again afterwards via JV16. Do read the instructions which accompany the cleanup tool.

Before doing so, just to be safe, at the very least, you should consider using Windwos Restore and make a restore checkpoint.

Additionally, you might want to boot into the TI Recovery CD and make a disk option backups. This would safety of a possible restore should things go wrong.

Or, perhaps you have some other method of creating a backup of the registry. Many of the reg cleaners provide such an option.

Thanks, GroverH. All good advice. Before I touch anything in the registry, I always create a restore point and, using Tweaking.com Registry Backup, I make a VSS complete copy of the registry. I only use JV16 as a finder tool; it's better than regedit's find function. I've run the TI cleanup utility in the past and it gives me BSOD. The issue is really this: there is an order in which Acronis registry leftovers should be deleted. (You'll no doubt remember Arvy's inaugural post on ATIH12 here http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/beware-of-acronis-leftovers-issu… ). I'm guessing that there's also a delete sequence to the leftovers I listed. I was simply hoping someone would know it. For example, you'll notice that in Arvy's original post there is no mention of ControlSet001 etc, but in other posts on other issues involving registry edits, I've read you have to start with ControlSet001, then move to 002 and so on. I'm relatively sure I've taken all the entries to Acronis services out of the registry and renamed the drivers. But there are a lot of leftover registry entries, a lot, as you can see. I was just looking for the proper sequence to begin to delete them.

When working with the Upper and Lower filters, these must not be deleted. It is only the specified data inside the upper and lower filters which is to be deleted.
Click on the Upper filter and click modify.
Then delete the data entry IF IT IS THE SPECIFIED ENTRY.
The upper filter header or lower filter header must not be deleted.

Repeat for the lower filter on both registry keys.

I see nothing in your registry that would matter as to the order of deletion. Be aware that "ENUM" entries can be difficult to delete due to Microsoft permissions and ownership issues.

Thank you Mustang. I'll check the enum sub keys first. Appreciate the time you took to look at the lists. Thanks again.

Grover, thanks for the reminder. Arvy has been echoing that warning in many of his posts.
