Secure erase all SSD drive before image restore?
I have successfully restored images of my boot drive on my SSD with absolutely no issues (including alignment). Before the next restoration I intend to "secure erase" my boot drive for performance reasons. Will the Acronis boot CD (2011) work without issues even though the drive in which Acronis 2011 is installed has been wiped clean?
Thanks in advanced.

Snakeyes, I did this already, after an SSD bios change, secure erase and had no issues with restoring from the recovery CD.
xpilot, after some usage, and despite TRIM and other mechanisms, the read/write performance of an SSD is somewhat degraded and that is noticeable by performance-oriented users who run benchmarks etc. A secure erase will release all of the user LBA locations internally in the drive and result in all of the NAND locations being reset to an erased state. This is equivalent to resetting the drive to the factory shipped condition, and will provide the optimum performance. Some advice to secure erase every 6-9 months depending on how hard the disk is utilized.

Pat L, Thanks for the explanation. It is something I will bear in mind when I eventually go the SSD route.

Thanks Pat L. Appreciate the info.
Just curious, what brand SSD and what software did you use for the secure erase?
