Security Permissions For Acronis To Run Correctly. Does It Need Any ?
I have seen many threads on here about issues with Acronis TI2012 and W7 Pro x64 and have experienced "flaky" behaviour myself. I have just been reading yet another new thread about an install of TI2012 that fails to start.
Could this non starting issue be anything to do with "permissions" ?
I had another problem with another specialist program that wouldn't run correctly and the cure was to enable full permisions in the security tab of the program shortcut for my user name. The PC was a new Dell laptop running W7 Pro x64 with the factory default W7 image. What I also noticed was that if I clean installed W7 that this problem didn't arise with that particular program. I am the only user and have only ever set up the default "admin" account so I never have to log on/off or use passwords etc
Now I notice Acronis adds an "interactive user" to the list of accounts under the security tab. Could any of these weird issues that are getting reported be anything to do with these permissions being restricted.

Sometimes when TIH 'fails to start', it does actually start it is just the GUI that doesn't appear, that can be checked in Task Manager, if TIH itself (not the monitor, timemounter or scheduler' appears then it is a'bringing up the gui' problem.
I can't give a specific answer why some non group policied machines work fine, and others require the Admin install or Admin access to run the program. Someties the problem is the firewall preventing the program from opening properly, some users may have deliberately (and forgotten) they've given themselves a restricted logon (in windows this would be unusual though).
In your specific case, True Image doesn't work well sometimes on a Vista or W7 system that doesn't use a password to log on, TIH requires la logon password even for single users.

Thanks for the reply Colin.
I am currently running Acronis with full permisions for all the users that show in the security tab and all the start up items enabled again (but it's to early to give a definite result on the outcome) although up to now it's been behaving and opening correctly... fingers crossed.
Not sure if the image works... I get a a "you are not authorized to access this page" message from Acronis when I click it.

Mooly,
You've confused me :) , are you making an Online Backup? I'm not sure why you are seeing an Acronis webpage.

No online backup... just using the forum.
The Acronis webpage is this one,
http://sdrv.ms/LF0OEy
and I see this whenever I click anyones attached files (pictures) in their forum post, such as mine in post #3.
I started a new thread on it in the "forums" section of the site :)

Mooly,
I thought you were still having a problem with your disk image rather than the forum, a new topic is really required under the web problems page.
Looking at your screenshot I'm even more puzzled because I see the URL bar shows "forum.acronis.com/system"
Right I see the problem, I don't know where you found the /system entry, but use forum.acronis.com , log in and you'll then be able to access links.

Thanks Colin... I replied on the other thread.
Edit... nearly forgot :) Acronis TI2012 is still behaving itself.
