Simple Backup Question

Thread needs solution

I recently purchased the True Image 2014 bootable CD version for the sole purpose of making an exact image of my Widows 7 hard drive. I do not care about other backup options. I would rather not install the product on my computer because it is working fine now. I have read too many complaints from users about True Image causing problems.

My Goal:

Boot my system from Acronis CD

Back up my hard drive using Acronis to a WD USB 1 TB My Passport

Verify Backup

If needed on new drive:
Restore using Acronis Boot CD and Acronis created WD backup image

Please let me know if this is possible or provide an alternate way using
Acronis or another product to accomplish the above as stated.

Thanks

What you propose is possible. I am not sure how it is that you purchased a bootable CD version of the app but certainly TI on bootable media can perform both backup and restore operations.

Most likely, you have a retail version which where the retail CD is a bootable CD as well as the install CD.

Once you have registered the 64 character serial number with Acronis, you have the option of downloading the most current build and creating the newest bootable Recovery CD--if needed.

Yes, your objective is what Acronis advertises it can do but your immediate goal is to learn how to use the product.
