single version backup problem

Thread needs solution

I have my back up set to single version which if I understand correctly should erase previos backup and create a new one.
however every time the sheduled back starts it says it cannot complete due to lack of space.
that makes sense and is why I have it on single to erase and make space.
has any one any idea why this is happening?
or what more info do you want?

Alistair,

Acronis True Image (ATI) will always first complete a new full backup, then erase any existing backup. So you always need enough space for a new full backup.
You could either manually delete the existing backup before the task, or use a pre-command using a command line batch file to delete it automatically.

Pat thank youfor your reply which explines the no deletion problem, i need some help with youe suggestion "or use a pre-command using a command line batch file to delete it automatically."
How do I do this?

Alistair,
You really need to get to consider a larger storage drive. If something were to happen to your data or computer in between the time you have no backup and another is being created, you have no backup coverage--especially if you have pictures and data which is important.

Also, often times several months will elapse before a file error or need for a file will occur and if you have no old backups, you have no replacement.

I back up every day therefore the remove previous back up before new option suits me best I currently erase the old bu and then save a new one manualy but I wanted to automate it .
My spare hd is big enough and has a bit of spare capacity but not enough for incremental or whatever
