Slow Opening Causing Warning Messages in application event viewer

Hi, yesterday I installed the latest version 7046 dated April 1st 2010 onto a newly installed windows xp pro.

When I initially tried to open the desktop file the splash screen opened and then hung. It did this every time it was opened.

When i checked the application in the event viewer there was a warning message "failed to connect to server. Error 0x 800401 F0 MSI Installer"

Thinking that there may have been a problem with the new os installation, I reinstalled this (xp pro sp3) along with the latest version true image 7046 April 1st 2010.

When I now open the desktop file the splash screen flicks on and off then opens. The application in the event viewer still reads as above "failed to connect to server etc"

I would appreciate it if anyone out there could advise how to resolve this because I am concerned that if ever I did need to access the file urgently it wouldn't open. Also everytime it's opened another warning is posted in the application event viewer.
