Slowing down the whole computer

Thread needs solution

I have it set to do a disc backup on Thursdays. I was out yesterday. I just turned on my computer, Friday morning and the back up starts.
I canceled it, as from experience it takes longer when it goes at the non-scheduled time

Even though I canceled it, something was still going on. I got a message that Acronis was using a lot of space. Under processes, there were two lines for Acronis and together they were using 50% of the CPU. I had to restart the computer, and now things are normal.

Is there a way to not have it backup first thing when turning on the computer if a time was missed? Why does canceling the backup, not shut down whatever it is it is doing? Thank you.

Yes, on the Schedule pane expand the Advanced settings section and you can choose what to do if a backup is missed. I would recommend you put a 10 or 15 minute delay on it as opposed to simple shutting it off.  See the attached screenshot ...

It does shut down whatever it is doing, but even the process of cancelling a backup can take a long time depending on your hardware. I would suggest that in this case, because you are just starting Windows cancelling the job will actually cause the computer to run slower than just letting the job run.

Just for the record, what are your computer specs? CPU, RAM, Windows version, hard drive(s) including space available
