Specify restore settings for drive c

Thread needs solution

I am trying to do a full system restore, when I get to Specify restore settings for drive c only the New Location tab is highlighted and the Cancel button is highlighted. I do not wish to change any settings when I click on New location system beeps and locks up, I have to power off the system. I have tried several times because I thought I did something wrong. So far no success. What am I doing wrong. I am booting using the rescue disk. I have XP sp3 on the computer using a SATA drive.

Which version of TrueImage are you using? If you are having trouble with this particular Rescue version, most likely there is an alternat e one available from your registration page and it is labelled "bootable media". It uses different drivers.

Normally, when you perform a disk option restore (all partitions restored) whereby the disk is checked, the next screen is the target screen whereby you select the whole disk--not a single partition. After selecting the target disk, the next screen is the summary screen listing what TrueImage will do based on your selections.

If you are restoring only the single partiton C, then after you make your choice as to what is being restored, the next screen has 3 groups which must be completed. You must select where the target partition is (which is your old partition c);

The second item on that screen is the type of partition and whether active. Examine visually to make sure it is correct. You do not have to make changes but you should make sure the setting TrueImage is displaying are correct.

The third item relates to partition size. You do not have to make changes but heck to make sure it is correct.

Thank you all for your advice but the thing is when I get to Specify restore settings for drive c if I select anything even cancel this system locks up. What I have been doing is alternating between Acronis and Norton Ghost I was able to do a full restore using Norton Ghost but it was 50 plus days old, once I got the system up I was able to run Acronis (it was latest backup only a few days old ) from the pc not using the rescue disk and I was able to do a full restore I don't understand why I was able to do a full restore once the system was up as opposed to running Acronis from the rescue cd
Thanks again for all your help

I would definitely try an alternate Rescue CD just to see if that works. If this is 2011, I would open a support ticket regarding your inability to work from the CD.
