Starting Recovery gives me following: Failed to check last versions of the backup?!

Thread needs solution

Hey guys,
I completed a successful backup of my laptop which is a dual boot win7 & 8 OS. I turned around and immediately tried to start a restore of this .TIB image and I rcv the following message:

"Failed to check last versions of the backup"

I get this message as soon as I select the restore button. What is going on with this application? When I search the forum here, I can't find anything close when I search the forums for this error text?

Can someone help resolve this issue with me?

Thanks in advance . . .

Hi Tom,
Did you ever get an answer to your question?
I just got the exact same error when I tried to restore.

Thanks,
Linda

Has anyone found an answer to this problem affecting all my computers in True Image 2015, thought upgrading to 2016 might solve it but it did not.

This is what worked for me:
Look for the file called Mounted.xml in the folder C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Databases. Rename it to Mounted.old. Then run the validate process on the backup file. After that you should be able to do a restore.

I'll have to try renaming mounted.xml...thanks for that suggestion, Linda.

The OP issue doesn't happen for me all the time, but when it does, browsing for the image I wish to restore and choosing it generally mounts the image for restore and successfully restores.

I have a very similar issue. On one of my computers running Windows 7, when I try to run Validation on a backup, it gives me the message "Failed to check last versions of the backup" When I click Knowledge Base, it states that there is no further information available. I was unable to locate the file Mounted.xml in the path noted above, or any other path. Any help would be appreciated.

That was the error I got, that was solved by renaming mounted.xml.
Do you have an archives.xml file in the same folder? If you do, try renaming it.

Thanks for the reply. I am running Acronis True Image 2015 on both a Windows 7 and Windows 8 machine. The files that you described are not in the folder. There is a file called archive.db, but no mounted.xml or archive.xml. Would removing the backup, then relocating help? I can mount the backup and it looks OK.

Jim

Here, archives.db appears in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\Home\Database, whereas archives.xml and mounted.xml appear in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database

Jim, if there is no xml file, then I don't know what you can do. Are you sure all files are showing? Are the xml files maybe hidden? I'm also running windows 7.

I just had the same issue today and renaming the xml file did not help. I solved it by uninstalling Acronis 2015 rebooting the PC (Win 7 Pro) and then reinstalling it. I've had problems with Acronis 2015 before and a reinstall always solves the issues.

Do you uninstall via control panel (or Revo or similar) or use the cleanup tool?

I had removed the Windows password from the PC wth the backup drive. After I put a login password for the Admin, this problem went away.
