STOP Won't Stop Backup

Thread needs solution

I have the latest versiion of True Image 2015. When I click STOP to stop a backup, True Image continues the back up. How can I force the back up to stop?

It is not unusual for the Stop option to take a bit to take effect. Should not take over a couple of minutes though at best. If this is not the case do you get any error messages?

No error messages, but I've waited over 20 minutes for it the stop to take effect before I just shut down the computer.

Does this problem continue when you restart your PC? You should take a look at Task Manager Processes tab and Services tab, scroll through the lists and attempt to find what it is that is running. If you can find it you should be able to stop the process or service. This may not permanently fix the issue but it can lead you to what is causing the problem which can help in solving the problem.

I have a similar issue. The backup is to a network share and never get's past 0%. Clicking Stop does not stop it. On reboot it starts up immediately, so getting in to change the backup options is impossible. Is there another way to change those options. Simply telling it to not run a missed backup would allow me to gain control.

Bob, download the .txt files and save from .txt to .bat.  This should make it easy to start and stop the scheduler service.

1) you could put the stopservice .bat in your startup program so that when you reboot, the service should automatically get disabled (hopefully)

2) or, run it to stop the service and then ctrl+alt+del to bring up taskmanager and kill Acronis if the GUI is hung on you still.  At least the scheduler should remain stopped when you relaunch it so you can go in and tweak the backup settings

Once you're able to move forward, in the schedule section, there should be an option to "run at system startup with delay".  Add a few minutes there to buy you some time in the future.  I leave mine set at 2 minutes.

Under advanced >>> error handling, you might want to also reduce the number of attempts and frequency as well so that it doesn't just keep trying over and over if there is a problem.
