Strange disc space phenomenum with Acronis

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I am using Acronis True Image Home 2010. It is installed on an Intel SSD. I have only 8 GB free space left and while looking to free up disc space I came across the following strange phenomenum I have no explanation for:
When I open Acronis and start Try&Decide the free disc space of the SSD as shown in the windows explorer jumps from 8 GB to 17 GB. When I stop T&D (w/o having made any changes) the 17 GB are still there, when I close Acronis, they are still there, when I restart the PC I drop back to 8 GB.
I repeated that several times, always the same and independent of if I close T&D with accepting or rejecting the changes and independent of if I use the SSD or my HDD for the virtuel disc space under T&D

Has anybody an explanation for that ?
Kind regards
Manfred

Obvious answer is 'something is deleted from disk when T&D starts'. It may be hibernation or paging file in system disk root (unlikely), some TnD's own temporary file left from the previous run, shadow storage copy (you can view used space using 'vssadmin list shadowstorage' on vista/windows 7)

Thanks for your replies ! It is the hiberfil.sys. T&D deactivates/deletes this file. No idea why, but certainly no problem with that.
