Surface Type Cover 2 Non-Responsive in Acronis Bootable Media

Thread needs solution

I just purchased the Surface Pro 2 with the Type Cover 2--this is the keyboard with the backlit keys.

First of all, there is already a known issue with Acronis not recognizing the keyboard after booting into the standard Rescue Media Boot and the trick is to plug in a USB mouse/keyboard/transceiver and then Acronis will recognize the keyboard.

That's ugly, but at least there was a workaround.

So now I just purchased the Type Cover 2 for my Surface Pro and although the keyboard works at boot time to select option 1 to start Acronis Rescue Media Boot, once the Rescue Screen appears, the keyboard is dead as normal, but this time, the trick with the USB mouse/keyboard/transceiver DOESN'T work! :(

It DOES, however, recognize the mouse, but the Type Cover 2 remains unresponsive. If I detach it and attach my surface to the Type Cover 1, then that works fine.

I also did another test and used the Type Cover 2 on my Surface Pro 1. Same result. So it definitely is not the Surface Pro 1 or 2 that's causing the issue, but the Type Cover 2.

Type Cover 1 works fine on BOTH Surface Pros (once you do the USB trick).

So now I have to switch back to using the Type Cover 1 with my Surface Pro 2. How disappointing. :( Since I am not able to use the Type Cover 2 to enter my backup password, then it is useless to me.

Acronis, can you please provide better peripheral support with your Rescue Media builds?! I have been using Acronis for a long time and I would hate to give up on it, but release after release, this annoyance continues to be ignored. If that is going to be your attitude, then I'd rather bite the bullet and switch.

But, again, I'd rather not, so I'm hoping that you please address this issue.

By the way, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 on both machines.
