Sync files without cloud
Is it possible to use Acronis 2014 to compare the folders/files on an internal HDD with the files on an external backup drive and then write changes found on the internal HDD to the external drive? (Folder/file modifications, deletions, etc) That is, updating a direct mirror copy of folders/files without compression and without using the cloud.
I am using "FreeFileSync" to do this but would rather do it with Acronis.
Thanks.

Thanks for that Echantech.
With regards to the "Create local sync" dialogue box that has the text "Select folders to synchronize" and two browse boxes -
I only want to create a mirror of selected folders on my internal HDD onto an external USB drive.
If I put the internal HDD folder location in the top browse box and the external USB drive folder location the lower box, will the transfer process be strictly one way from the internal HDD going to the external USB drive?
The Acronis user interface has no clues whatsoever as to what the process is, or the direction of data transfer between the two drives.
Thanks again.

Synchronization is a process that basically mirrors the contents of data from one location to another. So once a sync is created between 2 folders then both folders will contain identical data. If data changes in folder in one location those changes are automatically changed in the sync folder in the other location. So in a sense this sync is a two way street, change data in location and those changes occur in the other.

OK thanks for the explanation of that. It appears that the Acronis sync isn't going to do what is required. That is, to maintain the internal HHD folder as a master and synchronising external USB drives to mirror the master content.
I greatly appreciate your help.

Ford:
There are other sync programs that can do what you want. Microsoft SyncToy is one that I use to do exactly what you are describing.

Thanks for that Mark. I'm using FreeFileSync already but wanted to find out if I could do it all with Acronis.
