Synchronizing data one way
Is there a way to get Synchronizing Data to sync only one way? I'd like to just push updates and new files to the synchronized folders.

This is weird behaviour.
Suppose you have two local folders (perhaps one on a USB hard drive) that you wish to keep synchronised. You NEED to determine which is the "master" copy. You decide that a file in your "master" folder is no longer required so you delete it. ATI then decides that the two folders are out of sync and copies the file back from the "slave" folder when what you want is for the file also to be deleted on the "slave" folder or, at least, given the option.
Absolutely ridiculous and the main reason I have ditched using sync and gone back to SyncToy which can be configured in a number of ways.

The first folder you select is deemed a sort of master. I say sort of, because as Pat L mentions, you alter something on the destination drive and your source drive reflects it.
The ability to nominate a Master folder and one or two way synching has been mentioned to Acronis a few times previously.

I just don't like software deciding that "you really didn't mean to delete that, I'll put it back for you". What I want (need) is the ability to delete a file on the master in the knowledge that, if I did it in error, there will still be a copy in the slave or in the recycle bin. SyncToy can be configured that way. The major difference is that you schedule "syncs" rather than have them performed constantly in the background (stealing processor cycles).

yeah i agree with OP
this is ridiculous and basically kills all functionality for me. the whole point of syncing (for me) is that files and folders that I constantly work with are being updated with their most recent state. Dropbox does this perfectly over the internet. Going back to synctoy.

Microsoft SyncToy, a free download, allows you to choose a one-direction sync if that's what you want.

As a new user I'm also a bit struggling with the synchronisation.
What I want : having ATI 2012 synchronising the folder on a second drive, according changes I make on my first (or call it 'working') drive.
If I understand this discussion correct, that's what will happen when I create a new synchronisation starting from the folder on my working-drive to the second drive. If I never manually change anything on the second drive, the information on that drive will always be in sync with my working drive.
What I first did is copy the original folder already to the second drive, and then create the new synchronisation.
I'm I correct ?
Another question I have : does the synchronisation happen on-the-fly ? Or is there a kind of schedule mechanism involved ?
Thanks for the help.

Dirk, Synchronisation occurs whenever TIH detects a change has been made to either sync folder.

Thanks for your reaction Colin.
But meanwhile I learned that TrueImage 2012 synchronisation does not deliver what I expected.
And I couldn't find this information in the manual before I bought the product .....
The problem is that synchronisation doesn't update folders, based on changed files. It synchronises e.g. if a new file is added.
I updated the content of some Excel and Word files (maintained in OpenOfiice 3.3), resulting in a new timestamp, but those files are not synchronised. ---> last minute update !! TI 2012 suddenly updated the 'Word' file, but not the 'Excel' file.
Another strange thing I notice : every some minutes, TI tells it's looking for changes between 2 synchronised folders.
But the weird is, that it's always about the same pair of folders.
I have created 4 different synchronisation-sets, but it's always the that's checked for changes.
To my knowledge, the settings for all 4 sets are the same : automatic synchronisation.
Or am I doing something wrong ?

Yes, the sync-function is really bad:
Sync 2 local folders:
folder 1 (PC) - empty
folder 2 (USB-harddrive) - empty
1) Generate a file (e.g. "test.txt") on the desktop and move it to folder 1 - file appears in folder 2 as expected.
2) Move file from folder 1 back to desktop- file will be deleted folder 2 as expected.
3) Move file again from desktop to folder 1 - file will be deleted in folder 1....
I tried this procedure several times starting with folder 1 as well as folder 2 - the result is always the same bad thing - folder 1 and 2 and desktop are empty - test-file is gone...
