Syncronization using ATIH 2012 on Standard User vs Administrator User Profile

Thread needs solution

I recently had to make a major change to my computer, due to a corrupted user profile. After an extensive effort of creating the new profile and moving all of my user related program and data applications over to the new user profile, I also took the opportunity to set up the new profile as a standard user.

The theory was that it would be more secure and that anything that would require me to be an administrator could be accomplished by simply right clicking the related program and then chosing "run as administrator".

That has worked fine in most instances, except for my Acronis settings for Syncronization. First of all, on my Win 7 pro computer, Acronis will not start up without the screen temporarily dimming to prompt for the administrator password. That is fine, however the syncronization icon no longer appears in my system tray and I do not know how to resolve it.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,
I understand your reasoning for wanting to do this, but I fear you will be plagued with permission issues like the one you are encountering now moving forward. User Account Control does not neccessarily offer a finite level of control over running services or directories that software applications (even ones other that Acronis) need in order to run correctly. This can also be true of services that run "on demand" that may lack the neccessary credentials to run.

Without knowing all of the specifics of your environment, I can make the following suggestion. Uninstall ATIH, run the clean up utility ** following all instructions. Re-install as administrator, selecting the option for Acronis to be available to All Users. Then verify if a standard user or user with limited permissions will allow all Acronis programs and services to run with correct permissions.

Please note: If windows created the User profile, the above method should work. Services, Application and directory permissions should be set up correctly. If your copied the profile over from something that was corrupt, unexpected behavior might result.
