Synology DS212+ and wake-on-lan

Thread needs solution

I'm scheduling ATI 2014 backup jobs to a Synology Diskstation DS212+, from Windows 8.1, and it looks to me like some of the backup jobs are not trying to wake the diskstation up. This morning, for instance, I saw a backup job that had been waiting for the diskstation for about six hours. When I browsed to the diskstation in Windows File explorer, thus apparently waking it up from hibernation, the backup job immediately went to work.

The backup job that was waiting had started at 3 AM, and I discovered the logjam and woke the diskstation up with File Explorer around 9 AM. The access log on the diskstation showed no action at all during the time that the backup job had started and gone into a wait.

So why is ATI 2014 not seeming to be waking the diskstation up from hibernation? On another machine on my LAN, also on Windows 8.1, the backups run fine during the night.

Thanks,
Tom

You might want to try to create a pre-command to the backup, for example a simple command line script that would copy a file to the NAS. That could be enough to wake it up on time for the backup to start and succeed.

I think you forgot to add the smiley at the end of that little joke. For a minute I thought that you were serious.
