System image and rescue disk on same usb key?
Hello,
I wonder if it's possible to have Acronis rescue disk and the system partition to restore on the same usb key ?
Or it must be two different supports?

that is exactly what I search for !!
I think it is very useful to have all in the same place
thank you!
If I can, just a another question, can I just change the backup to a new one every now and then, without messing all

I have never used this feature however I would say that once the media is created it might be possible to use Windows Explorer to open view the media contents. If that is possible then you should see the created .tib backup file and therefore remove it and copy a new one in its place. If storage space permits it would be possible to have multiple backup files on the media.
Just not sure you can do that as often bootable media is not accessible this way.

I understand and thank you for your quick response
I will give it a try when my current back up is ended
I would be able to put several back-up,as you suggested, but this pc is a all-in-one from Asus (first one not home-made) so I include in the back_up
the asus restore partition, reaching then 42.4 go
Edit : just finished a back-up as it's says in your link
but the back-up is fractionned by 4 go (fat restriction?)as in the link they said the usb key must be in fat 16 or 32
I just don't understand, this is first time it happens to me, and I can say I have plenty usb key and never had a fractionned back-up
can you help me with this new problem

I am afraid I do not understand your reference to "go" as in 42.4 go and 4 go. I am including a link that discusses the differences between the FAT 16 and FAT 32 file systems. Maybe this will help somehow.

You say that your backup is fractionned, I take it that you mean more than one file was created for the backup? If so how many were created?
I did not envision your wanting to backup your entire system in this manner. That thought did not even cross my mind as I do not think this is what was intended when this feature was designed. I could be mistaken on that I suppose. I would think this would be more practical in use for backup of multiple folders/files say for a specific project and then recovered when needed onto another machine as any OS capable of reading FAT 16 or 32 would have no problem reading the data.
A limitation of FAT 32 is a maximum partition size of 32GB. Meaning that on disks larger than that you would need to create multiple partitions for the FAT 32 file system to work. If the media you used was larger than 32GB maybe that is a reason the backup was fractionned.

sorry for my bad english,I meant GB
as I explained the back-up I made was fractionned by 4 GB each part, to reach 42.4 GB,so this is my question, why?
you say there is a limitation to 32 GB,ok,and I was on larger usb key (64 GB sandisk extrem)ok
So I did a back-up without the Asus restore partition to reach 25.5 GB for only system partition and done that on 32 GB usb key
But it was the same !!! fractionned by 6x4 GB and a one of 1.5 to reach 25.5 GB
I don't understand why ? I only think is the fat 32 restriction that let copy max 4 GB file
But if I format to NTFS to avoid this limitation then the back-up won't start,as Acronis says usb key must be in fat 16 or 32
Sorry to annoye you with my problem, which is not a real one as I make Back-up in several places for each PC
I just wanted to have all on the same key ,I found it practical
But maybe ,( you tell me), the fractionned back-up is not a probleme and the restoration will work the same as if it was only one file
What do you think?

A backup split into a number of pieces should not a problem when restoring as True Image is designed to handle that as it is necessary for example if you made the same backup on DVD for example. I think you are right that it is a FAT 32 limitation that causes this.

ok then,
you resolved my problem,I will leave it this way if it will not affect the restoration
thank you very much
