TI 2009 - Image file password not recognized when trying to restore at CD boot

Thread needs solution

Have just started using TI 2009. I created a partition image (TIB file) on a WD My Book external drive connected via the eSATA port. When invited to provide a password I entered one comprising upper and lower case alphas, numerics, "_" and "-". The password was accepted, I could mount the image and, after entering the password, examine its contents.

I then inserted the Acronis bootable CD, restarted, Acronis loaded up OK and I tried to restore the image. However, after entering the password when requested I kept getting an "invalid password" error.

Is this because the version of Acronis loaded at boot time has a different password algorithm from Windows. I was going to try changing or removing the password but couldn't see any way of doing this.

How do I work around this problem and prevent it happening with future images?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Hello Christopher,

I understand your question and will do my best to give you clear explanation.

I couldn’t find the issue you have described in our database. I have found a known issue related to free space before and after password you specify. If it’s a case please make sure that there are no free gaps before and after password and let me know the results.

This is not a common issue and I suppose it may relates to dashes so please use only digitals and letters to specify the password and see if the issue persists.

If you are not using the latest build 9809 you may want to update to it.  I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date. You can download the latest build from your account under registered products. Recreate Acronis bootable disc using the latest build create a new password protected backup archive and check Acronis bootable disc functionality.

Let me know the results.

Thank you.
