TI-2010 aborts/crashes immediatly.

Thread needs solution

I'm a licensed TI-11 user.  downloaded trial TI_2010, did one last backup of HD via TI_11 and installed TI_2010.  (reboot required so I did so). after reboot tried to do full hd backup under TI_2010 it immediatly crashes.

Have a Dell latituded D820 laptop, 100G Hd 1G ram XP-SP3
To create/reproduce the error:
launch TI_2010
clicked try it now
clicked menu item "backup" then "classic backup"
clicked "disk and paritition backup"
auto selected was the main NTFS paritition "c:\" drive
I let the acronis auto selects remain unchanged and click "next"

Get an hour glass for about 4 seconds and then TI_2010 crashes.
a dialog box pops up.
"Acronis true image has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for teh inconvenience"
I then have the opportunity to tell microsoft about the problem by clicking "send error report".

The above pretty much sums up my TI_2010 experience.  Every attempt to perform a backup instantly fails.

Do I have any options?  Are there any ideas?
If I cant get a resolution in a few days I will have no choice but to uninstall TI_2010 and reinstall TI_11 as that version did work.

I have the exact same problem if I have my iPod connected to the computer when ATI2010 gets to the point of asking where to store the backup.  If I disconnect my iPod, then ATI goes through that part fine.

Hello,

Thank you for using Acronis Software.

Could you please clarify if you've opened a case with Support? If no - could you please submit one with all the details?

Please send the case number to me via PM, I would like to track the investigation of this issue.

Thanks,

Michael Levchenko

I would love to open a support request, and/or communicate with an acronis support member.
However either I'm doing something wrong or something is down/mis-configured with the acronis website:

Here is what I tried:
I went to: http://www.acronis.com/support/
clicked he "start here" button
clicked "techincal issues with product"
clicked "I am using the trial version"
In the drop down selected  "Acronis True Image Home 2010 Standard"
clicked  "submit a request via a web form"
get:
                   400 Bad Request
The plain HTTP request was sent to HTTPS port

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        nginx/0.8.15

Tried the same thing with "live chat" got the same results.

I am  open to resoloving this via PM if you are.

My account info says that my 30 days free technical support window expired yesterday.  A day after I purchased the product so I can't open a ticket.

Nice...

Marc, if it is only a day after you purchased then everything on your system will say as such, have you tried to register the product on line?. I have Disk Director purchased three years ago, TI11 and 2009, all of which are there for me to see on line.

Managed to create/open a support request: internal to acronis it known as case number 00316490

Since its late at night I would not expect a first response until morning at the earliest.
However I want to do "something" so I am doing a full disk check now by
right clicking "c:\" drive
click properties
click tools
click check now
set both check boxes
x automaticaly fix file system errors
x scan and attempt recovery of bat sectors

the above chkdsk is running now and may take an hour so I'm going to bed.
More on this later as items develop.

scan disk completed without incident.

no change with regards to TI_2010 the product still crashes within seconds of attempting a backup.

also did a test with anti-virus program disabled

New  information!

The issue appears to be related to an UPGRADE install of TI_2010 from V11.

This evening I did an UN install of TI_2010 then re-installed.

Of course when I did the re-install it did not have to “deal” with a pre-existing V11. so it was a plain "install" not an "upgrade" install.

TI_2010 now WORKS on my pc.  I have done a FULL backup of my PC and then did a successful validate of that backup.

Lesson learned here was if your having issues with TI_2010 and your TI_2010 was an upgrade install from an older release try doing an un-install and then install  again on what is now a "clean" system.

Agree with oracledba.

Encountered numerous problems after upgrading from V11 to ATI Home 2010.  Removed 2010, reinstalled from scratch -- no problems!  Seems there are problems with upgrading an existing ATI Home setup to 2010.
