TI 2010 - Automatic Creation of MyBackups folders.
Hi
Is it possible to stop TI2010 automatically creating MyBackups folders on all visible drives. It's kind of annoying when you're creating a job which you intend to point to an existing directory structure, that afterwards you have to tidy up and delete a load of MyBackups folders. Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb about this - any help appreciated.
Mark

Hello,
I agree too. Everywhere you can find these folders.

Hello all,
Thank you for using Acronis Products
First of all please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program. Check it in Help -> About. You can always download the latest build of the program from your account under Registered Products.
If the issue persists please describe step-by-step actions you perform. I tried to reproduce the issue and I don’t have empty My Backup folders.

Hello,
it happens every time when I start a new backup of partitions or if you create a new backup task of partitions.
ATI 2010 asks for the place where you want to store the backup and creates MyBackups folders nearly on all visible drives.

this happened to me, too, the first time I ran ATI 2010 after installing. The folder was created before I finished creating the backup task.

This was posted by mistake. I don't at this time see a way to delete a posting. Perhaps a moderator can or will remove it.

At first I didn't understand the issue in that the postings didn't provide much in the way of details, also requested by Dmitry.
I decided to look at my system which has three internal drives and a USB drive attached. As indicated in my signature the operating system is WinXP, SP3. I believe now that I see what everyone is talking about. Each drive, except boot drive C, has an empty folder named MyBackups. The date/time created closely relates to the installation of TrueImage 2010. I have also seen the same empty folder in the Windows My Documents folder. Even the Seagate FreeAgent USB drive has one. For the short-term I will delete them but will be watching to see if they return. I hope I'm on the right track with this.

Hi Bruce
You've described the sequence of events of this problem accurately. If you want to see the problem in action, all you need to do is:
- run TI2010
- choose 'Backup'
- choose 'Disk and Partition Backup'
- select some partitions and press 'Next'
- watch the MyBackup directories being created on all partitions except 'C:\'
You don't need to complete the backup task since the MyBackup directories are created mid way through the process.
Regards

Hello Mark,
Thanks for the confirmation. It's difficult to understand the logic behind this and admittedly I don't appreciate having these folders added to my drives. Until Acronis re-thinks this 'enhancement' I will have to delete the folders as they are created.
Thanks again for the update.

Yep, I can confirm that too....only one additional hdd and MyBackup folder created on that drive as described above.....should be easy for Acronis to duplicate since it happens every time....WinVista x64 OS, TI 2010 latest version....also, had it happen when I backup some files to a DVD.....

Hello,
I can confirm this nerve-racking behaviour!

Hello All,
Yes on my "OS" as well Vista Home Premium ( no SP ) 32 bit . every time that you create a "task", i get the "My Backups " folders as well. Looks as if 2010 decides to make this folder first, even if you point the backup to a different folder. Regards Fred

Uninstall Acronis True Image 2010 from Windows.
Backup & Recover from the 'Bootable CD'
No more mystery 'MY BACKUPS" folders. Problem solved.

That is not an acceptable solution. Problem NOT solved.

It depends what True Image features you need or want to use. It solved it for me, and may provide an acceptable solution for others as well. Good luck...

One could created a scheduled task to remove the folders.
Cheers, Rob.

Rob... No offence... that is a solution albeit not a very elegant one... not your fault
But WOW! this is an old thread and no one has have offered any other solutions and Acronis seems to have ignore the issue...
I am running Windows 7-pro 64bit and this still happens to me!

Hello all,
I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.
The issue concerning “My Backup” folder creation after using Acronis True Image Home 2010 is a known one. Our development team is already aware of it and the fix will be available in future releases of the product. I may assure you that creation of “My Backup” folder doesn’t influence overall program functionality, so you can just ignore this folder.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.
