TI 2011 hangs before completing

Thread needs solution

I find that the latest version of TI Home 2011 is not working. It hangs before completing. It worked before the latest update which is "True Image Home 2011 update 2 (build 6857)".

The event log shows the following:
=======
Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Acronis True Image Home 2011. Product Version: 14.0.6857. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Acronis. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.
=======
The Source is Windows MsiInstaller and the event number is 1035. Any ideas what is going on here?

BTW, the only way I can get out of this lock up condition is to power the laptop off. Nothing else works.

Can you uninstall, reboot and reinstall?

I was able to uninstall. However, reinstalling has not worked. I even went back to the 2010 version, and again no luck. The install crashes right off the bat and the only way to get out of it is to power off the laptop. My copy on my desktop works fine, just the one on my laptop. Both have a Seagate 1 GB External Expansion Drive. Both computers a running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS and both have 4 GB of ram. They are virtually identical except one is a Dell desktop and the other is a Toshiba laptop. The laptop has only a fraction of the programs and files as it is only meant for when I travel or when my Wife is using the Dell. :-)

The only change to the Laptop that I am aware of was the TI 2011 update and the normal M$ updates (which happen on both PC's).

Try the clean up utility: uninstall first, use the utility, reboot and reinstall.

I found the installation problem. It seems the Windows Installer service had set itself to manual instead of automatic. After resetting it to automatic, TI  2011 installed okay and then updated to the current version.

However, it still will not complete the backup. It gets down to 8 minutes remaining in the backup and that's where it hangs. I am not certain what is happening at 8 remaining minutes, but it is the common denominator at this time. This has mr baffled. I will in the meantime try the link you suggested.

If it stops alway at the same point, it could be a disk issue. Try to run the backup from the recovery CD to see if you have a similar problem.

Don't say that. I had to have the drive replaced just a few months ago when it failed. I just received this unit at Christmas. This makes me wonder if the correct Laptop was purchased. :-(

If the backup fails as well from the CD, this is a good hint of disk issues.

Run chkdsk -r on every partition that is backed up.
