TI 2015 cleanup rule deleted ALL my backup files!

Thread needs solution

I upgraded from 2011 to 2015 on Windows 7 Pro.

My plan says to run differentials, and to create a full backup after 6 diffs. I have a cleanup rule that says to clean up after the backup gets bigger than 700GB.

So I ran my first backup with 2015. This did 2 things: it created the 6th differential, and it took the total size to over 700GB.

Then the product deleted ALL the backup files except the latest - including the full backup that the latest differential was made from.

So if I now try to run a backup, it tells me that the full backup is missing. Well, I say, of course it's missing. You deleted it!

What's going on? What can I do? The only thing I can think of is to run a full backup and kiss all the others goodbye.

Can I still use my cleanup rule, or will it again delete all my files when it triggers?

Try validating the remaining file. Respond "ignore" to the error prompts.

How is the remaining file named?
Is the size of the remaining file as big as a full backup?

I don'r know what it will do next. What it should do is whatever is due next. If the last backup is named Full, the next backup should be a simple Diff.
Unfortunately, nowhere is there anything written on how the cleanup really is determined or what it does.
I don't like anything that merges the data which is why all my cleanup recommendations is based on keeping a speciic number of backups using the rule 'store n' number of recent version chains as per example GH13.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.
