TI Home 2009 - Can I temporarily disable a scheduled task?
TI Home 2009 Build 9796
Windows XP Pro SP3
I have a scheduled backup task which runs each evening at 8:30PM and then shuts the machine down.
If on some specific day, I know that I'm going to actually be using the machine past 8:30PM, is there a convenient way to prevent the task from running that evening without messing up the backup sequence?
What happens if I right-click the task, select "Change Schedule" and click the "Do Not Schedule" button? Will I be able to change the schedule back again later without losing any other info in the task?
[I'm reluctant to simply try this because in the past, my attempts at editing existing tasks has resulted in messed up backup sets, and things are finally working just the way I (usually) want them to]

It will take very little resources and your use will not interfere with its completion. Any changes you make after the backup starts will not be included in the inprogress backup.
Yeah, but the scheduled task has a "shutdown -s" in the "Pre/Post commands" option to shut the machine down after the backup completes.

I worked around my fear by creating a new scheduled task.
I changed the schedule to "Do not schedule", which moved it to the "Unscheduled tasks" list, but didn't seem to change anything else. I then selected that unscheduled task, did a "Change schedule" on it to put it back to the original value and it got moved back into the scheduled task list, again apparently unscathed.
I didn't actually try to run any of these tasks, but at least they look like they're correct.
So, I'll try this on my real backup task and see what happens.
