TI Home 2010 Bootable backup or recovery very slow

Thread needs solution

Hi, I recently updated to build 7046 and it seems since I updated the backup and recovery speed has really taken a hit. It is taking up to an hour to complete where it used to only take about 15 minutes for the same data.
I am backing up full partitions and have downloaded the newest bootable media version and it is still slow.
Other info:
I am backing up to a WD USB drive. I have tried a few different drives and that didn't make any difference.

any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

Anna Walker

If you have any other usb devices, remove them. If you have card readers which are not being used, disable them in the device manager. From your explanation, both the CD created from inside the install application; and the Bootable media download both have the same problem?

Also, when connecting usb, the best connection is from the rear outlets--if you have choice and avoid using a multi-usb-hub.

Perhaps validation is activated now and was not with the other release. A success validation is an important part of your backup procedures.

I tried adjusting the hardware settings and that didn't make a difference. BUT, I restored an earlier version of the image and it took 7 minutes to restore.
The only difference are some setting changes within Windows (removing access to control panels, etc) for the user. So what could I have done in the creation of the image that would make it slow down so much?
