TI2010 much slower than TI2009 under XP-SP3?

Thread needs solution

hi,

ive upgraded from 2009 to 2010 yesterday and TI became MUCH slower under WinXP SP3. Any known issues? Anybody experiencing similar behaviour?

Program works well but behaves somewhat slow...

Maybe you would get some good results if you do a clean reinstall of the program. Uninstall with revo uninstaller, reboot and clean your registry and do a complete clean install.

I have to do that with alot of my software when upgrading.

Good Luck.

I've uninstalled TI2009 previously - but not by using revo...

thanks for the suggestion

I am wondering whether you have made any progress with this issue. I too am finding TI 2010 extremely slow compared with 2009 under Windows XP SP3. I tried booting using an ISO supplied by Acronis support and then backing up and in the boot environment it was much better - comparable with 2009. Would that seem to imply a Windows / Firewall or similar issue? I am thinking of going back to 2009, but am waiting to see if there is a solution, as TI 2010 seems to have some nice features.

That just means that the new version of the program that runs under windows is a time hog. Afterall, if the your foot hurts when you wear the shoe, do you trim off the foot or design the shoe to fit? ;)

True enough, but I would still be interested to know if anyone else (other than the person who began this thread) is experiencing a difference of the magnitude of up to 5-fold (2.5 hours as against 30 mins!) in the time taken to backup an 80GB partition under 2010 as compared with 2009 and whether the problem is ESPECIALLY noticeable under XP SP3 . I would also be even more interested to know if anyone has any solution.

Running under Windows is much slower than running offline. About 5 times.

Version 11 was bad, version 2009 worse and version 2009 is an entymologist's delight.
I will be staying with version 10 until it no longer runs on more up to date hardware. Then I will look to alternatives that actually work as they should.

Correction I meant to say 2010 is an entymologists delight.
I suppose that new builds may fix some of the problems but the track record shows that older versions will no longer be updated and 2010 will end up incomplete in many ways.

Well, it certainly sounds as though I had better uninstall and go back to 2009. I fear that that and obtaining a refund could be a further "delight"!!

Not counting some of the stalwharts on the ATI forums, that's what everyone I know the used ATI has done. I think I'm the last one still using ATI (the laudable version 10). Shame that Acronis doesn't turn around. It's like the cheap crappy cars made in the 60s and 70s -- then a few companies made reliable machines and eventually commanded the market. and the crappy car makers, well, you know. . .

Contact customer sales and request a refund, inlcude as an attachment a copy of your purchase receipt. Do this within 30 days of purchase. I got mine in a couple of days. Woe be unto him who sends a refund request through Tech Support.

Sadly that seems to be the only sensible course of action. Thanks for the practical help!

Scott, can you tell me the best way to contact customer sales? Thanks.

With a determined, Bogart look on your face and your hand, index finger extended, pushing forward in your trenchcoat pocket -- just kidding.

I said Sales, but meant Service -- although Sales is the most responsive (always looking for leads ;) )

Anyway
Customer Service is here:
http://www.acronis.com/contactsupport.html?t=1f203ea708a5832ff153a3E45

And chat is here:
http://www.acronis.com/contactsupport.html?d=2f203ea708a5832ff153a3E45

And fwiw, Sales is here: http://www.acronis.com/company/contacts/request/index.html?t=1

When you contact any of these you should get an automatic email response, indicating that your request has been received, within a few hours. An answer might not come for a day or two. With tech probs, they might not send an answer until they have one -- and if they don't, it might be a long long time ;)

Postscript on all of this. I decided to persevere a little longer and followed out Eric Gossett's suggestion (above). I performed an uninstall of TI 2009 using Revouninstaller (the Windows uninstaller "hung"). I then rebooted and did a "clean" install of TI 2010 and then tried a full partition backup (80 GB). It took only about 20 mins - a time which compared very favourably with the 2009 time for the same operation. It also was only about 2 times slower than the same operation from the boot environment.
