When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

still the same problem, cannot connect to any map on NAS device.
credentials are OK, when i create a network mapping in windows its all fine

Eddy,

You metion in your first sentence 'map on a NAS device', did you mean map or were you referrign to UNC addressing? If you haven't tried the UNC/IP addressing as suggested by Tuttle, this would be the way to go as True Image doesn't perform reliably with mapped drives, in fact don't map the drive at all and then try using IP or UNC addressing. You might also need to delete the NAS credentails form Windows Credential Manager and re-input the credentials when True Image asks for them, they will then work with the NAS and with True Image.

I don't think you have to use a UNC path. I use a mapped drive letter with no issues.

I want to do the opposite. I have a couple of hundred gig's of shared files on a NAS drive. Before updating the firmware on the drive, I want to backup that drive to a local disk drive. TI2013 does not show the network drive (either mapped drive letter or UNC) as a possible source.

Is this not do-able with TI21013? Do I need Backup & Recovery or some other tool from Acronis?

Have you tried to do a file/folder backup, or are you trying to do a disk/partition backup?

Exactly right answer, James F.

Thanks for that tip. I was trying to do a disk backup. I am able to see the applicable folders with a file/folder backup.
