.tib to .iso for vmware virtual machine
Is there a way to convert my .tib back up to a .iso so I could then make a virtual machine of my drive back up?
I know that there will be driver issues but I would think that Windows 7 would over come this.
I work from home and have to use special software to access work. I have had a drive go bad on me and because of this it would be nice to have a vm back up so I would not lose time. I know that True Image will make a bootable CD/DVD. But seeing as the back up image it's self is almost 70Gb. That would take allot of DVD's.
Here is what I would like to do with no extra cost and with as few steps as possible.
1) Backup my work system's hd (250Gb) to a external usb hd (500Gb)
2) Turn the native .tib True Image back up file to .iso
3) Use that .iso to create a vmware virtual machine
4) Run the vm off the external hd
I am using Windows 7 Ult. 64bit on both systems.
I have vmware's workstation so making a vm should not be a problem if I can get it in to a .iso format.
Thanks in advanced
Tom

Unless things have changed recently, the last TIB files that were directly supported were from Echo. The newer version didn't work (at least not when I checked last).
I wouldn't bother with an ISO. Why not just restore the TIB into the VM? Create the backup image normally. Then boot the VM with TI and just restore the image to the virtual drive located on the external drive.
Another option would be to just setup the VM as your "main" work access. You could then use it on whichever computer it needed to be run on. Of course, running it on a different physical computer may still trigger a Windows reactivation depending on how much real hardware is used by the VM.
By the way, running Windows off a USB drive is really slow.
