TIH 2012 - Manual Cleanup

Thread needs solution

I have True Image Home 2012 and backups are working well. Due to disk space I need to alter the number of backups retained etc. I have altered settings and would like to manually run the cleanup tool but can't figure out how to do so or does the cleanup run BEFORE the next backup. If it doesn't cleanup prioor I won't have enough disk space which is why I would like to run it manually.

David,

There is no clean up tool to get rid of selected backup files. You need to choose "recover files" after clicking on the gear menu. This will open a window with a list of version at the bottom. Right click on any of them and choose delete.

ATI always does a new full backup before erasing any existing full backup (and associated partials, if any).

In addition or to expand on what MVP Pat L has written:

When TI has been instructed to delete a backup plus immediately create a new replacement, it always creates the replacement before actually deleting the file so additional space must be planned by the user for the temporary extra space needs.

Be reminded that when deleting backups with incremental pieces
The full is the base and must be retained if other pieces is to be used.
When deleting incremental pieces, the oldest most recent backups are to be deleted in descending sequence starting from the most recent or newest backup.

In other words, you cannot deleted incremental #2 or 3 and retain #10.
In order to keep #10 usable, you must also keep the full plus 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
