Hello folks,

I am running TIH2011 successfully without much of a problem, however, I am at a point that I was expecting TIH2011 to start deleting images create in Jan of this year. It is over 6 months and the backup scheme is : Version Chain ( the program deletes backup versions older than 6 months)..
Well that is not happening... I have a total of 37 full images and incrementals.
The FIRST full image was created on 12/01/2012
the LAST FULL IMAGE on: 01/08/2012 with 2 incrementals on 03/08 and 04/08/2012.

Can I manually DELETE all of the backups EXCEPT the LAST full Image and last 2 incrementals... Then RENAME them SAME-NAME_(1), SAME-NAME_(1)2, SAME-NAME_(1)3 ??
Same Name being the same name as all of the backups....

The very LAST thing I want to do is destroy my backup chain such that I cannot recover. If I can do the above, can I save the last 3 months, delete the rest and do I have to rename them in the proper sequence.

If this question has already been answered, I apologize... direct me to the proper space and I will be happy to delete this post.

Thanks to everyone for their replies...

Perdido,

Do not rename any backup files.
If you want to delete backup manually, the recommended way is to:
- move the backups you want to KEEP to another directory for safekeeping,
- delete the entire task in ATI (ATI will complain it could not delete all the files, insist),
- delete any remaining file in the backup directory,
- create a new task with a different name.
After a while, fee free to delete the moved backup manually if you want.

Something is weird, if this is an image and your are using the Version Chain, then you have differential backups, not incrementals. Are you sure there are incrementals?
