Too many 16 bit

Thread needs solution

I an getting an error similar to "Too many other 16 bit..." that is all i see before the error message disappears. I am trying to run true image 2013. I odouble click the icon to open it and getting hourglass (its windows 7 so it is the spinning ring, but you get the idea) I have to reboot and then try and open TI 2013.

P.S. I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with the website, saying i have no registered products, and i am not able to login with firefox Internet Explorer only.

PC has TI 2013 is a month old dell, windows 7, 8 gb ram, 250 GB HD (49GB used, 200GB free), quickbooks POS and nothing else than stock windows 7. no email, no office, no anything.

Is TI running in 16 bit? What can i do to get this running?

Michael,

I don't think I've seen this error message before. True Image is at least a 32 bit program to my knowledge.

How many True Image entries appear in Windows Task Manager?

Does Windows Event Manager show any warnings or errors that might relate to this message?

What happens if you temporarily disable Quickbooks POS, reboot and then run TIH do you get the same error message?

I think you might need to to talk to Support on this one as it sounds as though they may need to look at your system report.

Have you tried running a repair install of 2013 just in case it didn't install correctly the first time around?

will check for answers to your questions. it doesnt happen everyday, so it may take a couple of days. will also get sys report as well.
thanks
MP

I am finding info on the net about changing config.sys (old school solution?) to increase the number of files. also some registry edits. am checking those as well and will let you know.

1. You access our web-site.

I get an error saying login information is incorrect when using firefox, using IE it lets me in after several tries. I am copy/pasting the login credentials so it is not a typo when logging in....

Ok, I am The 16 bit programs is referencing a windows 7 'attribute', so it is not an acronis problem per say, but is still occurring, it happens to fast for me to get a screen shot. I am still having issues with acronis with both local backups and to cloud backup, they are saying it will take 109 + days to backup ~30GB to a local win 7 PC with an external usb 3.0 1TB drive where all my backups are going. Is it bad to have my backups going to one of my workstations that is also using acronis? Everything local is going to my external USB 3.0 1 TB drive, it has run for a couple of weeks, but now it is not working.

Michael,

Are all the Acronis services running in services.msc?

Is your external drive connected via an external hub or directly into the PC motherboard? Does Windows Devices Manager show any problems with any of the USB internal hubs or drivers?

Have you tried disabling the POS software temporarily to see if the problem goes away?

Is the POS software on a standalone PC which then talks to the POS equipment or is this an embedded PC and POS equipment device?

Which edition of Windows 7 is being used?

Have you run a RAM test of your system, I don't think this is where the problem lies, but it is one thing to cross off the list as TIH is very RAM condition sensitive. You need to run it for at least 12 hours and preferably 24 if possible.

I assume a TIH repair doesn't alter anything.

The acronis services are running.
All PC's are Win 7 pro 64bit SP1 and all updates. Month old Dell Optiplex 790 i3 2120@3.3Ghz 8 GB Ram, 250 GB HD (PC the external is hanging off of has 500GB HD 512MB Video)
The external is USB 3.0 (for speed) to a 2 TB WD HD. (50% free)
Device Manager is all good.
The problems occurs on both the POS and a PC that does not have POS (running windows and MS Access, Firefox...nothing special.)
Have run RAM tests and have passed but not run for 24hrs.
Have not run repair, is this just normal install with a /repair? or just reinstall?

thanks
Michael

Just run the installer again, it will then offer you a repair option.
